Poetry by Valerie

Artist's Box

All the games
  That I once remembered,
Like hop-scotch and jump-rope,
  When I was a child;
Was really nothing
  Until I grew up
Into an adult
  With activities
That was so wild!

The depth of the ocean
  Reveals so m uch emotion
The intensity gradually develops
  With each line
As it becomes perpendicular
  To the horizon above
To capture
  The world of mine.

A rainbow tells so much
  Stretching from one side
To the other end
Where there's a pot of gold,
That intensifies my imagination
  Of what I've been told.

One, two, three,
  Pick-up sticks.
I don't know about you
  But I am very quick!

That special skill
  Develops over time
With lots of patience,
  Creativity and goodwill.

I can say that
  This gift has truly
Become one-of-a-kind
  That I can honestly
Call "My Very Own"!
